It is a particularly special thing to be surrounded by a charm of goldfinches. I forget how many there were exactly, but I would guess 5 or 6. Flying between two patches of bushy habitat, and singing all the while. The song of the goldfinch is perhaps my favourite birdsong of all. It is delicate, soft yet elegant, and unmistakeable. This group of spectacular choristers proved very co-operative and put on quite a show.
